Job Title: Maintenance Technician          

Reports To:  Maintenance Supervisor

Location:  Nampa, ID

 

This position is for D shift. Thursday - Saturday and E/O Wednesday from 7:00pm-7:00am. Wage will include a $4.00 night shift differential. 

 

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician for Materne North America is responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of equipment on our high-speed production and food processing lines.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and instrumentation equipment on the production lines. This would include but not be limited to; instrumentation (temperature, pressure, flow, and load), proximity sensors, relays, IO cards, safety circuits, motors, drives, and robots. Candidate will also be responsible for some mechanical preventive maintenance and repairs.

 

 

Job Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Occasionally perform and/or coordinate maintenance and basic repairs for the building and facilities 
  • Remove, replace, rebuild, install various pumps for different processes, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic.
  • Work with vacuum and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding and fabrication of stainless steel, aluminum steel, or carbon steel (MIG, TIG, Stick)
  • Machining experience with Mills, Drills, Shears, Brakes, Lathes, Punches, Grinders, and other shop equipment.
  • Occasionally perform and/or coordinate maintenance of the grounds and property, including waste removal, snow removal, landscaping, etc.
  • Technical troubleshooting for Controls, Electrical, Instrumentation, and some Mechanical Systems
  • Support production lines as an on-call basis if necessary
  • Reading electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams
  • Rebuild and perform calibration/verification of equipment
  • Read and understand technical manuals to diagnose failures within the facility
  • Maintain an accurate activity log in the CMMS
  • Wire and install new equipment for continuous improvement projects at the requests of project managers
  • Consult with controls engineers on programming improvements for new projects and existing equipment
  • Read and set device parameters such as VFD’s, soft motor starts, and motor contacts
  • Use test equipment such as multimeters, motor megger, oscilloscope, 4-20mA meters, thermocouple RTD readers/testers, offline motor tester
  • Work with 480V AC, 3-phase; 240V AC, 3/2 Phase; 120 V AC 3/2/1 Phase; and 24 VDC process signals of 4-20mA and 0-10VDC
  • Troubleshoot and replace motor starters, VFD’s, servo drives, electrical disconnects, breakers, fuses, relays, and safety circuits
  • Use teach pendant for moving robots
  • Use process readings and perform mechanical and parameter offsets with appropriate documentation and follow-up
  • Attend daily maintenance and production hand-off meetings
  • Communicate through work orders and emails in an organized, productive, professional manner
  • Work a flexible schedule as required
  • Provide OJT for technicians regarding electrical and instrumentation problem solving
  • All other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.  Additional technical education beyond high school is highly desired.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years working in industrial manufacturing preferably working within or alongside Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance OR
  • 3 years working in industrial manufacturing preferably working within or alongside Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance and an equivalent to an associate’s degree of education within a relevant field

 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Moderate computer skills
  • Welding skills are a plus
  • Basic math skills, including competency with weights and measures
  • Knowledge of VFDs and servo drives is required
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting is required
  • Understanding of electrical drawings and wiring diagrams is required
  • Knowledge of instrument calibration is required
  • Experience using a Digital Multi-Meter is required
  • Experience in writing preventive maintenance plans is a plus
  • Offline motor tester knowledge is a plus
  • Experience using teach pendant for moving robots is a plus
  • Prior experience with PLCs is a plus
  • Experience using a thermal imaging camera
  • Ability to communicate (verbal, read, write) effectively in English

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and hearing protection.
  • Able to access all areas of the manufacturing facility including use of stairs, ladders, and the occasional powered lift.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs several times per shift
  • Must be able to safely bend, squat, kneel and crawl in, on, or under machinery as needed
  • Able to work 12 hours per day
