Position based at the Bel Group's Research, Innovation and Development Center in Vendôme, Loir-et-Cher (41) or at the Bel headquarters, in Suresnes, Haut de Seine (92). Adjustments based on location and personal circumstances are possible.

Job description

We are seeking a Scientific Expert in Gut Health & well-being to lead the Group’s expertise on biotics and the gut microbiome and to guide innovation in healthy & functional snacking aligned with global health and wellness goals for Bel’s Group. Into the Applied Research in Microbiology team, this position bridges R&D, regulatory, nutrition and marketing teams, ensuring scientific rigor, product efficacy and strategic alignment across markets.

Your main missions in this role will be to:

  • Build the Group’s expertise on the impact of diet on health and gut well-being, including the gut microbiome, biotics, fermented products, active ingredients, and anti-nutritional factors.
  • Scientifically support and inform the Group’s strategy for developing a range of healthy and functional snacks that address physical and mental health challenges. Provide evidence-based recommendations on gut health & wellbeing in collaboration with the Bel’s Nutrition teams.
  • Establish and maintain close collaboration with marketing, nutrition, regulatory, and quality departments to ensure regulatory and health compliance across all markets and target populations.
  • Contribute to internal awareness and training on the gut microbiome, its short- and long-term health implications, and the benefits and applications of biotics in food.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to optimize the incorporation of prebiotics, probiotics, and active ingredients, ensuring their effectiveness while maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Build an external ecosystem (consortiums, startups, suppliers, academic science) around biotics (pre-, pro-, and postbiotics) in the food industry to accelerate innovation.
  • Conduct scientific and technological monitoring and critical analysis (scientific literature, patents, preclinical and clinical data) to identify new knowledge & opportunities in the field.
  • Participate in national and international conferences and seminars to represent the company and promote the Group’s positions.

Profil

  • Ph.D. or engineer degree in food sciences, biotechnology, microbiology or nutrition with a relevant expertise in gut health & well-being. Significant experience in biotics containing food products
  • Strong skills in scientific research, data analysis and project management.
  • Curious, collaborative, and business-oriented, with the leadership skills necessary to transform scientific topics into real opportunities for the company.
  • Strong communication skills & teamwork with ability to share impactful messages to diverse external and internal stakeholders
  • Passion for innovation and sustainable development in the food industry.
  • Self-starter and proactive
  • Fluent French and English
