Job Summary:

The Inventory Specialist works collaboratively with purchasing, production and supply chain leadership to ensure that the plant is able to meet critical business objectives by ensuring the schedule is set up accurately in the ERP system (VIF) and that the materials are on-hand to produce what is scheduled.  This position also plays a role in any traceability and recall activities by utilizing the ERP system (VIF).

Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Responsible for creating and managing Manufacturing Orders (MO).
    • Works with Production to close MOs on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Assist in managing manufacturing schedule and plan
    • Assists in establishing the manufacturing schedule to meet demand planning requests
    • Assists in meeting the yearly production plan according to defined lead times, and component levels
    • Partners with Production and Purchasing to coordinate last minute schedule changes and material availability
  • Track and audit inventory
    • Runs stock checks of all materials needed for requested volumes and works with Purchasing to resolve any discrepancies
    • Leads weekly audits & cycle counts.  Works with Warehouse Supervisor to help identify material and losses.
  • Assists Warehouse Supervisor in managing material flow, including inbound/outbound/trash in and around factory
  • Assists the Quality department in traceability and recall activities
  • Monitors standards for inventory management and control & makes suggestions for changes
    • FIFO, FEFO, stacking rules, 5S, Kanban
    • Works with Warehouse Supervisor to control damage to goods and charge appropriately
    • Assists in Non-conforming Material (NCMR) entry, monitoring, credit requests and dispositions.
    • Conduct regular Stock Checks, reconciliations & Audits to ensure Inventory accuracy (In-site/ Off-site Warehouses).
    • Analyze the Inventory Variations & put Corrective Actions.
    • Conduct a Monthly Data Reviews to identify Trends.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or similar field is preferred. 
  • In lieu of a degree, 3+ years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in an Inventory/Production Control position, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • 1+ years of experience using ERP software

Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of principles of production and supply chain management
  • ERP Systems (SAP, Oracle, Asset Suite) and inventory management modules
  • Knowledge and experience with variance analysis (e.g. inventory, root cause analysis, material costs, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with immediate and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in writing (including email) and verbally
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

 

Preferred Skills

  • SAP Experience is preferred
  • PowerBI experience preferred.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Work is performed largely in an office environment with some time on the Warehouse floor.
  • Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, off-shift support, deadlines and other concerns.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods (8 hours).
  • Fine motor skills for operating tools or machinery.
  • Work in hot, cold, or humid environments.
  • Occasional exposure to loud machinery or equipment.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Occasional travel may be required (15%)
